Wireless LAN (Local Area Networks) technology offers advanced wireless broadband services with a cost effective price and standardised interoperability between end user equipment and access points. Airspan’s ASN-900 product offers a unique combination of features for diverse WLAN network deployments. ASN-900 houses two IEEE 802.11 a/b/g radios and an integrated 5 GHz link antenna. This product is a base station class outdoor proof access point.

Together with a ControlNET server, these products form building blocks for large scale WLAN network applications. Large area WLAN networks have been used for such applications as industrial automation and control networks, extended area enterprise WLAN networks, municipal Wi-Fi networks, and logistic terminals and harbours. Airspan’s new network release for large area WLAN networks, offers versatile feature set for extended area WLAN networks as well as Wi-Fi hotzones.

Extended area WLAN networks are used primarily to expand network coverage of wired networks. AS.NET Wi-Fi hotzone solution can be scaled from one or two access point locations up to municipal area networks. Such networks have been built with AS.NET products to several cities in Europe, America and Asia. Airspan’s WLAN technology can be used to deploy WLAN for private networks as well as public networks. Basic services can be easily deployed with 2.4 GHz coverage, while more advanced features can be used for deployment of shared infrastructure between multiple operators.

WLAN services can be tailored for end users, private households, enterprises, business users and guest users. Plain WLAN access is a starting point, how to connect to the network. Bigger network deployments rely on operator level services, differentiated access speeds, security settings, as well as managed user groups.
